Michaela UrbanProjects and Disaster Relief Specialist

Born and raised in Anderson, Indiana, Michaela McCurdy is passionate about calling out and cultivating the goodness of God both here in this city and all around the world. With deep roots in the Church of God on both sides of her family, Michaela is grateful for the way her upbringing instilled in her a love for both the local and global Church.

Michaela graduated from Anderson University with majors in International Relations and Spanish and a minor in Biology. Between years in school, she spent summers in Honduras and Bolivia, as well as traveled extensively with the AU Tri-S program. These experiences, coupled with cross-cultural opportunities teaching English as a second language in the Anderson community, greatly shaped Michaela’s heart for intercultural friendships, learning and hospitality. Though her senior year was upended by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, she still believes they were “virtually” the best class ever.

Michaela joined the incredible team at Global Strategy in the fall of 2020. Her original role was in researching the ever-growing prevalence of disasters and how Global Strategy can adopt holistic approaches to these crises. This research gave birth to new opportunities for empowering crisis mitigation globally, and in the fall of 2021, Michaela stepped into her current role with Global Strategy as the projects and disaster relief specialist.
