PASS CREEK SUSTAINABILITY

—walking alongside the local church globally—

Summary

Working with the growing congregation of Pass Creek Church of God in Allen, SD, Tim and Kim Wardell are excited about a new opportunity to prepare the church for the future.

At Pass Creek, the Church of God property is a place where Lakota children and families experience care, consistency, and the love of Christ. But the aging bathroom and shower building—used by both local families and summer service teams—has deteriorated beyond repair.

To continue serving the community with dignity and safety, the Pass Creek community is launching a project to demolish the failing structure and install four new weather resistant bathrooms. Two bathrooms will serve the community year round, and two will support incoming service teams. This project is part of the ongoing Pass Creek Sustainability project, ensuring that the ministry remains stable, safe, and rooted in long term presence.

Cost

The total project costs is $98,550. Right now, gifts to the Pass Creek Sustainability project will be matched up to $45,000, doubling your impact and helping complete the bathroom renovations!

Project # 43.44350

BACKGROUND

The current shower house at Pass Creek has served faithfully for years—but repeated repairs, harsh weather, and aging pipes have rendered it in poor condition (see slideshow images). The loss of this facility has caused significant strain: Local families who rely on the sanitation facilities are left in a lurch, and summer service teams—who help sustain ministry programs—cannot be hosted well without reliable bathrooms.

Vision

The vision for this project is simple and deeply rooted in relationship:
Create safe, dependable bathroom facilities that honor the dignity of local families and equip ongoing ministry at Pass Creek.
Reliable bathrooms are not merely a convenience—they make it possible for the Pass Creek church to maintain their consistent presence, welcome volunteers, and build trust in the community.

STRATEGY

The strategy centers on stewardship, partnership, and sustainability:
• Demolish the failing structure using volunteer labor to reduce costs.
• Reset and repipe the existing water lines to ensure long term functionality.
• Install four individual bathroom units—two for the community and two for service teams.
• Source durable, weather resistant materials suitable for the harsh South Dakota climate.
• Leverage matching funds to maximize donor impact.

PARTNERING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Your partnership helps restore a foundational piece of ministry at Pass Creek. By giving toward this project, you provide:
• Dignity for families who rely on the ministry for safe water access
• Stability for children who count on year round programs and care
• Support for volunteers whose labor strengthens local ministry
• Longevity for a ministry committed to presence, service, and hope
Every gift—large or small—moves the Pass Creek community closer to fully functioning, sustainable facilities. When you partner in this effort, you are investing in both the day to day needs and the long term flourishing of Lakota children and families.
