background
background
The Church of God in Cuba began in 1930 and has experienced significant changes over the nearly 100 years of existence. There are currently 71 churches (63 official and 8 provisional) that are scattered across the entirety of the island (including the southern island of Isla de la Juventud). There are also 5 churches in a probationary relationship wishing to join the Church of God.
The growth of the church of God in Cuba is astounding, especially given the dire economic crisis that the island nation has endured for the past several years. Many Cubans are underemployed, and even those who make a living wage struggle to find basic goods, due to an extreme shortage of fuel and supplies. The situation has become more complicated with ongoing electrical outages. Through it all, our brothers and sisters in Cuba have learned to depend on the Lord’s provision.
Because of the economic crisis and a variety of challenges in communication, the Church of God in Cuba has been relatively isolated from other Church of God connections within Latin America and globally. In recent years, the Church of God in Latin America has begun rebuilding relationships and creating strategic regional partnerships to support and encourage the work of the Church of God in Cuba.
We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with the Church of God in Latin America as we work together to support our brothers and sisters in Cuba and help build the foundation for an even stronger future.
STRATEGY
The House of Leading and Learning will be a multi-use facility that allows the church to grow and connect with one another. The facility will be utilized as a location for:
- La Buena Tierra Cubana Bible Institute
- Church of God National headquarters
- Offices for other outreach efforts (a child sponsorship office, food distribution, etc.) and age/stage specific groups (kids, youth, women’s, men’s groups, etc.)
Vision
Vision
A place where the Church of God in Cuba can come together to pour into present and future leaders, strengthening their faith and knowledge, so they can bring hope to their communities.
“A 28-year dream is now becoming a reality. I give thanks to God for this team and for the opportunity to walk together toward achieving the goals we have set for the formation and training of the pastors and leaders we serve in the work of the Lord.”
Pastor Regla Pedroso Milera
Leader of La Buena Tierra Bible Institute
Multi-Use Facility
Multi-Use Facility
One of the benefits of this project is it will allow the Church of God in Cuba to utilize a facility for multiple purposes including the Bible training school and national headquarters. Below are some of the opportunities made possible by a multipurpose space.
Celebrating Partnership
The goal of providing a facility for the Church of God in Cuba is a joint venture between a number of groups.
The InterAmerican Conference (CIID) has made Cuba a priority in their visitations and travels, and they have committed to connecting Latin America countries in partnership with this initiative.
The Bible institute in Cuba has also become an active part of a network of Church of God Bible institutes around Latin America, which are working together to share ideas and support one another.
Global Strategy is joining their regional leaders to assist in making the needs of Cuba a priority so that the growing church community can thrive into the future.
Will you join Global Strategy in empowering the next generation of leaders?
