Fe, Faith

Adelante.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” —Hebrews 11:1

What can move mountains? What can transform our world? What can move the hand of God? Surely you already have the answer: faith. It is the key that opens doors to accomplishing great things, to leaping into the void knowing that all will be well.

Every day we are inundated with information about how to be well and how to live in the present, projecting ourselves into the future in the best way possible. Examples include having good financial strategies, a good diet, focusing on what makes us feel good or gives us pleasure, eliminating toxic relationships from our lives, practicing sports and gymnastics, incorporating alternative medicine, taking idyllic breaks, and the list goes on. We receive all this information because today’s society demands well-being and seeks alternatives to achieving it at any cost.

In all of this, God tells us that all will be well if we trust in him. He invites us to believe his Word when he affirms that he has thoughts of well-being for us. He gives us tools to achieve this well-being. He urges us to take up the shield of faith to face the snares of the enemy of our souls.

The remarkable thing about all this is that it’s not about achieving, or even accomplishing, anything with our own strength. It’s about understanding that we must focus our gaze on Jesus, as he tells us later in Hebrews 12: “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross.” It is Jesus who endured the entire sacrificial process for the joy that awaited him. He knew where he was going and what the purpose of so much suffering would be. This sublime example gives us hope and activates our faith in him. According to the Greek translation, we can say that Jesus is the author, leader, captain, and perfecter, the one who completes our faith.

Let us then continue the race of faith, looking to Jesus, with purpose, hope, and joy in what is and will be. With him, we know that what awaits us is the best we can ever hope for. And in turn, we will be an inspiration to those around us. Let’s move forward!
