Ben Shular is the chief strategy officer of Church of God Ministries. He has a passion for connecting local churches with global partners and seeing ministries become self-sustaining, growing, and multiplying.
A native of Vancouver, Washington, Ben brings to Global Strategy a mind for business, a passion for missions, and a heart for evangelism. And he’s not exactly your typical missions executive. The son of a construction contractor and a social worker, Ben first worked his way up through the construction trade, eventually earning licensing as a master electrician. All of this experience was put to use when Ben and his wife Kelli were called to missions. They spent eight years as missionaries with Global Missions (now Global Strategy) working alongside the Church of God in Babati, Tanzania. Ben received a diploma in practical theology from International Seminary, earned a bachelor’s degree in Christian ministries from Mid-America Christian University, and then completed a master of business administration, also from MACU.
While at Babati, Tanzania, Ben led the Babati Bible School to financial independence, directed the Church of God in Tanzania to self-sustainability, facilitated growth in the Children of Promise child sponsorship ministry, and oversaw the development of the Aldersgate Education Center, which now provides educational and spiritual support to more than 1000 children. When they left the field, Ben took a position as missions and assimilation pastor at the church he and Kelli grew up in, First Church of God in Vancouver, Washington, before returning to Church of God Ministries.
