Peninsula Community Church is reaching the unchurched residents of the Te Atatu community in Auckland, New Zealand. Pastor Kris Gilbert and his family are missionaries to New Zealand, having taken that position two years ago. The good news is that attendance is increasing! This is in a country that is becoming post-Christian. The challenge is that this growth is requiring additional staff to cover children’s and youth ministry as well as worship. With many of the new attenders not having a church background, giving is not yet covering the costs of these new positions.
As the church grows and becomes self-sustaining, there are things the global church can do to make that a smooth transition. The goal of this project is to provide financial assistance to the church to cover costs that allow them to add part-time staff in youth and worship. This allows the church to make an impact in the lives of families with youth and children now as they disciple them on how the church maintains its presence in the community through giving.
The total cost of this proposal is $28,500, which we hope to raise over two years. Peninsula Community Church is already supplementing funds for these position,s and within two years they plan to be able to financially support the new positions through their weekly giving.
Gifts of any size make a difference in creating sustainability for a growing congregation!
